Getting to Oruro

Popular Route Options

From La Paz (3.5 – 4 hours by bus)

Direct buses depart every 15-30 minutes from the main La Paz Bus Terminal (Terminal de Buses La Paz on Av. Perú). Modern paved highway (Autopista La Paz-Oruro).

From Cochabamba (4 – 4.5 hours by bus)

Scenic climb from the valley up to the Altiplano. Daily frequent departures from Cochabamba main terminal.

From Sucre & Potosí (6 – 8 hours)

Overnight and daytime buses connect southern Bolivia to Oruro. Potosí to Oruro takes approximately 4 hours.

From Uyuni Salt Flats (4 – 5 hours)

Direct buses run daily between Uyuni and Oruro. Additionally, FCA trains (Wara Wara del Sur / Expreso del Sur) connect Uyuni to Oruro train station.

Oruro Terminals & Local Transport

Interstate buses arrive at the Estación Autobuses Oruro (New Terminal) located north of the city center. Radio taxis are readily available outside the arrivals hall to take you to your hotel or grandstand section.

⚠️ Carnival Road Blockages: During Saturday and Sunday parade days, downtown streets are closed to vehicles. Be prepared to walk the final blocks to your hotel with luggage.
