Route
Oruro Carnival 2015 Route Map
The route of the Oruro Carnival 2015 will begin with the meeting of the dancers at the corner of Potosí and Aroma streets at 06:30. The route will begin at Bolívar street and follow the same streets as in previ ous years:
Pagador street, followed by Aroma to the 6 de Agosto, continuing on Bolívar to La Plata, Adolfo Mier and Presidente Montes. Later Bolívar to the Petot, Adolfo Mier, Avenida Cívica "Sanjinés Vincentti", Junín to finally end at the Sanctuary of Socavón with a final procession before the Virgin of Socavón.

Program
The Oruro Carnival is a cultural and religious celebration with shades of native influence. In 2001 the Oruro Carnival was declared by the UNESCO part of the "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity".
The famous Oruro Carnival Parade 2015 will be on February 14th (Saturday) and February15th (Sunday). Besides the Oruro Carnival Parade there are plenty activities related to the Carnival planned and executed months before the Parade happened.

Inauguration of the Carnival 2015, Grand Inauguration
Date: Friday, September 19th, 2014
Place: Civica Av. at 18:30
During this act there will be present it four new Folkloric groups of dancers. The Oruro emblematic Diablada and Morenada dances will be performed for the assistants.
October
First Soiree offered by the Directors of A.C.F.O. (Association of Folkloric Ensambles of Oruro)
Date: Friday, October 31st 2014
Place: Installations of the A.C.F.O. located at Potosí St. No. 4933 between Aroma St. and Villarroel St. at 20:00 hrs.
First Soiree in devotion to the Candelaria Virgin with the participation of the 52 folkloric dance groups affiliated to the A.C.F.O.. This celebration will be held by priests from various religions.

Entry of the First Convite
Date: Sunday, November 9th, 2014
Place: Potosi and Aroma streets at: 07:00 a.m.
The First Convite is a ritual of the devout dancers that will participate in the Oruro Carnival Parade 2015. It is an act of devotion both personal and economic.
The ritual began back in the 19th century. During the Convite dancers who will participate for the first time in the Parade will receive the communion during one of the masses in the Socavon Virgin Sanctuary and they will also get their costumes blessed.
During the afternoon all the folkloric groups will dance through the streets of Oruro city until they reach the Socavon Sanctuary. Dancers enter the church on their knees with a candle in their hands, singing a 'qhochu' on their arrival. At the feet of the Virgin of Socavon, the new dancers will make the promise of participate at the next Carnival Parade with the folkloric group they came with to the temple.
November
Election of the 'Predilecta' (Favourite) of the Oruro Carnival
Date: To be announced.
Place: At the A.C.F.O building from 15:30.
The election of the Predilecta of the Oruro Carnival is an internal beauty competition between the fraternities to elect the queen or 'predilecta' of the Carnival of 2015. It consists of an event in which the participants present themselves in three dresses: the main, the folkloric dress of the fraternity and the dance costume.

Candle procession in Honour to the Candelaria Virgin 2015
Date: Sunday, 1st of February, 2015
Place: Union Park, 16:30
This is a Religious procession with the image of the Candelaria Virgin (Virgen del Socavon). This event counts with the participation of the 52 folkloric dance groups that will participate in the Oruro Carnival Parade 2015.

Band Festival
Date: Saturday, February 7th, 2015
Place: Civica square
The Band Festival will start from 9:00 am. in the Plaza Civica (Civica square), near the Socavon Sanctuary. During the competition several folkloric bands show their best acts to impress the jury. At the end one of the bands is named the best of the Oruro Carnival 2015.

Last Convite
Date: Sunday, February 8th, 2015
Place: Departure point (Potosí Esq. Aroma): 06:30 a.m.
The last Convite before the Majestic Oruro Carnival Parade constitutes the last practice before the lavish entrance of the Carnival. The 52 folkloric dance groups show their enthusiasm and dance steps through the streets of Oruro city.

Native entrance Anata Andino
Date: Thursday, February 12th 2015
Place: Carnival route from 8:30 a.m.
The Anata Andino is a peasant festivity to celebrate the abundance of agricultural production that the "Pachamama" Mother Earth gave them. This celebration belongs to the rainy season (jallupacha) in which the fields have flowered. As a proof of the abundance the peasants carry flowers and products extracted from the earth recently.
The Anata Andina is developed two days before the lavish Oruro Carnival Parade, with the participation of hundred of indigenous groups of dancers. The participants arrive to the Oruro city from the small villages of the Oruro department.
During the Anata Andino indigenous dancers show their native music, dances and dresses. This event shows the Bolivia live indigenous culture and tradition.

Convite of the Tío - Challa
Date: Friday, February 13th, 2015
Place: Oruro city
This Friday is traditionally dedicated to the Convite of the "Tío" (Uncle). The authentic "Challa" of the San Jose Mine.
During the evening there is a Serenade in honor to the Socavon Virgin. The spectacle is delivered in the 10 de Febrero Main square with the performances of folkloric groups and bands.

The Oruro Carnival is famous worldwide and was declared "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO. The splendid folkloric parade counts with the participation of 52 folkloric dance groups dressed in colorful costumes showing their culture, heritage and tradition through the most incredible choreographies and music.

Sunday of the Carnival - Entrance of the Corso of Oruro Carnival 2015

The Sunday of the Carnival the traditional dawn takes place near the Sanctuary of Socavon, with the participation of the bands of the Oruro Carnival.

Day of the Devil and the Moreno
Date: Monday, February 16th 2015
Place: Sanctuary of Socavón
During this day are held several masses, offered by various folkloric groups. Also, at quite a lot of locations throughout the Oruro city are choreographic demonstrations by dance groups as well as social receptions at their headquarters.
