Overview and Map
The Oruro Carnival Parade is the largest cultural expression of Bolivian folklore. Listed by Unesco as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, it's one of the most anticipated festivals in the country.
The Oruro Carnival is mainly a religious festival in devotion to the Socavon Virgin. The Carnival activities are planned with months of anticipation and the agenda includes numerous ceremonies and rituals. The most important day is Saturday, 14th of February, when the Majestic Folkloric parade takes place throughout the streets of Oruro. Hundreds of dancers make their way to the Socavon s Virgin sanctuary surrounded by thousands of spectators from all over the world.
The tour starts early in the morning in the La Paz city. We will transport you to Oruro in a tourist bus and once in Oruro you will be assigned a seat at the Folklore Avenue to enjoy de outstanding Oruro Carnival Parade.
During your stay in Oruro we will provide you breakfast, box lunch and beverages. The group of tourists that you will join with be accompanied by an English speaking tour guide.

- 4:30 a.m. Departure from La Paz city meeting point

- 7:30 Arrival in Oruro city. We will walk to reach our seats located at the Folklore Avenue.
- During the day we will enjoy the Oruro Carnival Parade. There are more than 20.000 dancers and 10.000 musicians during the festival. Its centre piece is La Diablada, the 'Dance of the Devils', an extraordinary parade that showcases demonic dancers in extravagant costumes
